Are Dental Implants Suitable For Me?

We treat each patient as a unique individual and offer them something that would have the highest success rate possible and the very best cosmetic and functional outcome. Many of our patients who now enjoy the benefits of implant supported replacement teeth state that their self esteem and self confidence have been restored as a result of improved appearance, function, comfort and health.

Are Dental Implants Safe?

Dental implants are not new, having been invented in the 1960’s. Dr Abicair has been providing dental implant supported prostheses successfully for over 30 years, ranging from replacing single tooth to replacing complete upper and/or lower jaws of teeth. Along with his many years of experience, advanced training in this area and keeping up to date with the latest trends in replacing missing teeth, he can offer you unsurpassed excellence in dental implant treatment without compromise.

What Can Dental Implants Do For Me?

Dental Implants can be used to replace a missing tooth or teeth in the most natural looking way, without relying on adjacent teeth for support. They are the most advanced, stable and fixed solution that allows you to have replacement teeth without the discomfort of a denture or having to reduce sound teeth to place a bridge.

How Do Dental Implants Work?

What is the Process? Your natural teeth are composed of two parts, the ‘crown’ which is above the gum line and the ‘tooth root’ which goes down into the jawbone. If you lose a tooth, the root can be replaced with a small titanium post placed into your jaw – this is the dental implant. The dental implants are placed in the bone using a gentle surgical technique. This is mostly performed with a local anaesthetic. Dental implants take approximately 2 to 3 months to fully integrate. During this interim period, we can provide you with temporary teeth to maintain your appearance. In many cases, teeth can be removed and replaced with the implants in the same visit and in selected cases we can even provide an implant supported prosthesis (replacement artificial teeth) on the same day as surgery.

Once the implant is integrated into the jawbone, an impression is taken of the top of the implant fixture and sent to our laboratory where a custom made crown or prosthesis is constructed by our skilled technicians. Approximately two weeks later the titanium abutment is secured to the implant fixture in your jaw and the completed crown or prosthesis is cemented or screwed on.

There are several choices available to you in regards to types of restorations that can be placed, varying from simple removable prostheses using the implants for retention, to totally implant supported porcelain crowns and bridges. Implant bridges can be either removable or fixed depending upon the number of implants utilised.

What is the Cost of Dental Implants?

Every implant case is different so the cost may vary between patients. You may be a very straightforward case requiring a single dental implant and very little preparatory work, or at the other extreme you may require multiple implants. Further costs may arise if treatment is required to prepare the gums, or if bone loss is too great to attach the dental implant without some initial preparative work. Due to the large number of factors affecting the cost of implants we recommend you call us to book a consultation so we can assess your requirements and design a treatment to fit you.
